Self-Assessment

OMB has mandated that each Agency (Department) shall submit an initial self-assessment on 30 April 2016 and future self-assessments annually on April 30th. This self-assessment is now identified as the FITARA Self- Assessment (Table 1).

The self-assessment shall include a discussion of how USDA senior leaders and program leaders will work in partnership to facilitate the successful implementation of the Common Baseline and how the USDA CIO will be enabled as a strategic partner integrated in shaping USDA strategies, budgets, and operations.

OMB will issue revised reporting instructions that describe how Agencies shall submit their self-assessment and plan using specified OMB templates.  Each element of the Common Baseline will be evaluated, along with accompanying evidence and steps to close the addressed gaps.

USDA uses the Information Technology Management Maturity Model (https://www.actiac.org/groups/project2-fitara-v2 ) to verify and validate the information provided in Table 1.
