Chief of Staff
Tonya L. Judkins is the Chief of Staff to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Chief Information Officer (CIO).
In this role Ms. Judkins plans and directs all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the CIO. She organizes and prioritizes critical issues and gathers information for the CIO to facilitate fact based, data driven, customer focused decision making. She also acts as an advisor on strategic initiatives and provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance. She is responsible for review and approval of all communications and correspondence for the Office of the Chief Information Officer.
Ms. Judkins started her career with a foundation in leadership and key core values in the US Army, following military service, Ms. Judkins went on to harness her administrative and organizational skills as a consultant performing information technology governance for several Federal Agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Department of Labor (DOL), Department of Energy (DOE), and Department of State (DOS). Ms. Judkins repeatedly was recognized for top performance through fast-track promotions and selection for high-priority initiatives. It was during this time that she branched out of the administrative career field into information technology (IT).
She formally joined the Federal Government in 2008, working at the Department of Interior (DOI) as an IT Specialist for two years, before transitioning to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in 2010. While there, she served in several leadership positions within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO), including Director of Investment Portfolio Management Control, Director of the Office of the Secretary’s IT Management Division, and as Chief of Staff.
Ms. Judkins earned a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), with a concentration in Organizational Leadership and a Bachelor’s in Organizational Management, both from Ashford University.
