Enterprise Applications Services (EAS)
Chris North was named by the Agriculture Chief Information Officer as Director of Enterprise Applications Services on November 1, 2010. In this position, North manages a range of applications services to USDA and other Federal agencies. These services include Enterprise Geospatial Management, AgLearn, Identity, Credentials, and Access Management (ICAM), Web Services, Applications Engineering, and Emerging Technologies.
Prior to this, North served as the Deputy Director of the BLM National Information Resources Management Center in Lakewood, Colorado in 2006 and 2007. There, he was responsible for national level IT operations including geospatial information management, security, enterprise systems, wide area network, and applications.
North also served as the State Chief Information Officer for BLM Oregon and BLM Arizona from 1998 to 2006. He was responsible for IT operations and security in support of BLM’s mission in those states.
North began his federal service with Agriculture Marketing Service in Washington, D.C., and subsequently served as management, program and budget analyst in a variety of BLM and USDA locations in the Western United States.
North received his undergraduate degree in Communications from The University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, May 1983.
