Placed-based Solution Platforms
As the fictional lead character said in the movie Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension: “…no matter where you go, there you are.” Similarly, agriculture and natural resources are placed-based national assets…, which are fundamentally understood by a geographic location. With this basic agreement, vast, diverse data sources may be combined to visually optimize policy and programming decisions. Our public service stewardship of these assets is empowered with Geospatial data and GIS tools.

EGMO Charter
The Enterprise Geospatial Management Office (EGMO) Partners and Stakeholders Advisory Council (PSAC) is established to coordinate and optimize the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) enterprise-wide geographic-based programs and activities. The Council consults, advises, and supports the USDA Geospatial Information Officer (GIO) in pursuit of excellence in USDA geospatial products, services, and mission empowerment.

EGMO Mission
The EGMO is a component of the USDA Office of the Chief Information Officer. It provides an enterprise-level struture and framework for facilitating and sustaining USDA agency geospatial Centers of Excellence maturity. Through the collaborative governance and IT Modernization approach, capabilities and capacity for geo-enabling missions solutions are created to add stakeholder value. Key EGMO strategic themes include: equal access to geo resources, data lifecycle value management, and enhanced spatial analytics.
