Changes to the CPIC Guide From

2008/FY2010 to 2009/FY2011

As of May 2009, there are very few changes that have been made to the CPIC Guide. The main changes were to the dates and Appendix T, which now includes the new EA reporting requirements for non-majors.

For the budget year FY2011 we have received very little guidance from OMB. Instead the Federal CIO, Vivek Kundra, has directed the forming of the IT Capital Planning Working Group to improve existing IT investment management policies, procedures and guidance. The working group will address:

· providing more timely and accurate information about all IT investments throughout their life cycles,

· making IT investment information more transparent and openly available, and

· making the information we collect about IT investments projects more useful for both agency management processes and oversight.

Charles McClam, the USDA Deputy CIO for Policy and Architecture, will be representing USDA as a member of this Group. As new CPIC and OMB requirements are published, OCIO will update this guide.
